One prime example of this can be found in our IT department, where Ecos has taken steps that have cut server power consumption by 12,404 kWh a year — equivalent to a 41 percent reduction. This reduction in energy consumption will result in energy cost savings of $1,240 annually, which is equivalent to saving greenhouse gas emissions from 1,002 gallons of gasoline each year, or the carbon that is sequestered annually by two acres of pine or fir forests.
At the same time, IT head honcho Jamie Daubenspeck says that storage capacity, memory and processing power have increased by several factors; we’ve improved our redundancy, which results in greater availability and uptime; security has been enhanced; and we are experiencing better overall performance of all our systems.
